General questions

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, advance booking is required. Our experiences have limited capacity to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and personalized adventure.

What should I bring?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes for the short walk. A light jacket is a good idea in cooler weather, and cameras are always welcome! If you’ll be joining us for the hike, we suggest wearing sturdy boots for extra comfort and support.

What is your refund policy?

If the weather doesn’t cooperate or something unexpected comes up on our end, don’t worry — you’ll get a full refund within 24 hours.

Need to change your plans? No problem! If you cancel at least 24 hours before the start time of our Space Food Tasting or Best of Balaton Hiking program, you’ll receive a full refund — no questions asked.

For private planetarium or sunset safari/hiking programs, refunds aren’t available, but you’re more than welcome to reschedule your visit once for another date and time that works best for you.

How long is the trail and how difficult is it?

How long does the hike take?

Most visitors complete the trail in 2–3 hours, depending on pace and photo stops — there are plenty of beautiful viewpoints to enjoy along the way!

Can I join the hike without prior hiking experience?

Yes! The Tihany trail is beginner-friendly with gentle slopes and well-marked paths. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys walking in nature therefore no special experience needed.

Will we combine the hike with other attractions in Tihany?

Absolutely! You can visit the Tihany Abbey, Lavender House Visitor Centre, or lavender fields — all within walking distance of the trail.

Are there toilets along the trail?

There are public restrooms in Tihany village before you start the hike. There are no toilets directly along the trail, so plan ahead.

Space Food Tasting

What is the Space Food Tasting program?

It’s an interactive culinary experience where you can taste real astronaut-style meals. Guests sample freeze-dried soup and main dishes, and finish with chocolate or coffee from a space tube. The tasting is guided with stories about how astronauts eat and live in orbit.

Is the food suitable for everyone?

Most items are vegetarian-friendly, but please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking. We will do our best to adapt your menu.

Is the program suitable for children?

Yes! The tasting is fun and educational for all ages, and children especially enjoy the “space ice cream” and astronaut stories.

Do we actually eat the same food astronauts use in space?

Yes, most of the food we serve is made with the same technology used by space agencies. We use authentic freeze-dried meals and real ISS-style tube foods, giving you a genuine taste of life beyond Earth.
