Step into the shoes of an astronaut and discover how it feels to dine beyond Earth.

During our space food tasting at Astro Garden Balaton, you will sample real freeze-dried space cuisine: a light soup, a flavorful main dish, and a sweet dessert of chocolate or coffee with an optional tortilla twist.

This is a playful and sensory journey through the history and future of astronaut meals, guided by stories from life aboard the International Space Station.

If the sky is clear, the evening ends with a short stargazing session, dining under the same stars that guide our cosmic explorers.

Great experience – really worth it! We learned a lot during this tour. Everything was explained with so much passion and knowledge that it was easy to get excited.

What is the Space Food Tasting program?

It’s an interactive culinary experience where you can taste real astronaut-style meals. Guests sample freeze-dried soup and main dishes, and finish with chocolate or coffee from a space tube. The tasting is guided with stories about how astronauts eat and live in orbit.

Is the food suitable for everyone?

Most items are vegetarian-friendly, but please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking. We will do our best to adapt your menu.

Is the program suitable for children?

Yes! The tasting is fun and educational for all ages, and children especially enjoy the “space ice cream” and astronaut stories.

Do we actually eat the same food astronauts use in space?

Yes, most of the food we serve is made with the same technology used by space agencies. We use authentic freeze-dried meals and real ISS and NASA-style food samples, giving you a genuine taste of life beyond Earth.

What should I bring?

Just curiosity and warm clothes if the evening is cool. Everything else — from utensils to “space tacos” — is prepared for you.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, advance booking is required. Space Food Tasting sessions have limited seats so that every guest can enjoy the experience comfortably.

What is your refund policy?

If the weather doesn’t cooperate or something unexpected comes up on our end, don’t worry — you’ll get a full refund within 24 hours.

Need to change your plans? No problem! If you cancel at least 24 hours before the start time of our Space Food Tasting or Best of Balaton Hiking program, you’ll receive a full refund — no questions asked.

For private planetarium or sunset safari/hiking programs, refunds aren’t available, but you’re more than welcome to reschedule your visit once for another date and time that works best for you.
